Food Hub


In 2010, the Yolo AFA held a large multi-stakeholder community forum to identify unmet needs in the agricultural community. From the perspective of small and medium sized farms, there wasn’t enough processing or storage capacity to address post-harvest and value added enterprises. Concurrently, the Yolo Food Bank was rapidly outgrowing its site and looking at moving to a new larger facility. Additionally, work was being done at the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) to construct the pro-forma projections to give a deep level of detail to the business planning aspects of a Food Hub. For 2014, the focus of this committee is a) to incorporate elements of the Feasibility Study into the a functional Business Plan b) Do Grant Research for funding c) Write grants for the future Food Hub and d) assist in community relations during the capital campaign and construction phases.
